  North Indian Saree Draping

  STEP 1

Firstly, wear a petticoat that stretches from the waist down to the feet, and tie it tightly by a drawstring. Hold the plain end of the saree in your left hand and let the rest of the drape touch the floor. Now tuck the plain end of the saree into the petticoat. Take a complete turn from left to right and bring the drape to the front.
  STEP 2

Start making pleats (around 6 – 7, each nearly 5 inches) and hold them close together.
  STEP 3

Tuck the pleats into the petticoat and bring the drape from around the back.
  STEP 4

Then once again, bring the drape to the front from around the back, and over the right shoulder. The drape at the back can be left quite loose, while the one in the front can be pleated.
  STEP 5

Tuck one end of the front drape into the left side of the hip.
  STEP 6

The loose end of the back drape can be used to cover the head.
